Objective: After class reading of the first 5 chapters of Hatchet, each student will give his/her own opinion through blogging regarding the creating of a fishing device using what few items the character Brian has with him when he finds himself stranded in the Canadian wilderness, as well as materials available to him within his surroundings.
Teacher-Led Activities: Teacher will show students her blog entry as an example of the lesson.
Student-Centered Activity: Students will post their own ideas regarding "creative" fishing as well as respond to each others' ideas. Students may also comment on teacher's blog entry.
Assessments: Teacher will check for understanding through the reading of students' blogs.
Resources Needed: Hatchet book, computer.
